Job Description Summary

Job Summary: The Executive Leader Labor and Employee Relations is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects around the strategy of labor relations and employee relations within the organization. This role involves dealing with unions union avoidance efforts and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. The executive leader will work closely with management HR and legal teams to develop and implement strategies that promote positive employee relations and minimize labor disputes.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement labor relations strategies that align with the organizations goals and objectives.
  • Manage the strategy and planning of union negotiations. Serve as expert advisor to the business Segments for contract administration grievance resolution. Primary interface to external union leadership for overall GEHC representation.
  • Lead union avoidance efforts by developing and implementing proactive employee relations programs and initiatives. Engage and develop leaders on the ground to enact.
  • Provide guidance and support to management on labor relations issues including contract interpretation disciplinary actions and employee grievances.
  • Ensure compliance with federal state and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the organizations labor relations climate and develop action plans to address any issues or concerns.
  • Collaborate with HR and legal teams to develop and deliver training programs on labor relations and employee relations topics.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices in labor relations and employee relations and incorporate them into the organizations strategies and practices.
  • Represent the organization in labor relations matters before government agencies arbitrators and other external parties.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Labor Relations Business Administration or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in labor relations and employee relations with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of federal state and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Proven experience in union negotiations contract administration and grievance resolution.
  • Excellent communication negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective labor relations strategies and programs.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
