Job Description

Beaver Chevrolet is looking for a motivated and experienced Assistant Service Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and technical skills as well as a deep understanding of automotive service operations. Their main responsibility will be to ensure that repairs are performed correctly and efficiently by qualified technicians and that the service department maintains a consistently high level of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a team of skilled service technicians to deliver exceptional results.
  • Mentor technicians helping them elevate their skills to the next level.
  • Ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations affecting service operations including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA guidelines.
  • Master manufacturer warranty and policy procedures to ensure seamless compliance.
  • Champion continuous learning by providing topnotch manufacturer training for all department employees.
  • Conduct performance reviews that motivate and guide technicians toward excellence.
  • Distribute repair assignments fairly ensuring optimal workflow.
  • Provide technical support for technicians when necessary.
  • Monitor repair orders throughout the day to keep projects on track.
  • Uphold the highest standards of service quality minimizing comebacks through rigorous spot checks.
  • Road test vehicles to verify the quality of work performed.
  • Ensure accurate billing of repairs and processing of all paperwork.
  • Build lasting relationships through a robust customer followup program confirming satisfaction with every service experience.
  • Address all customer complaints within 24 hours collaborating with other managers when needed.
  • Oversee shop conditions ensure continuouscleanliness safety and equipment maintenance.
  • Safeguard special tools through proper care storage and inventory management.
  • Stay ahead of industry advancements by recommending new equipment and tools.
  • Step up to fill roles like service advisor or dispatcher when the team needs support.
  • Participate in manager meetings contributing insights and expertise.
  • Foster a culture of harmony and teamwork within the department and across the dealership.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and professional appearance that reflects our highly respected brand.

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience in automotive service management or a related field.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures.
  • Indepth understanding of service operations regulations and compliance.
  • Stellar customer service skills with a passion for exceeding customer expectations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in performance management tools and software.
  • Ability to handle highpressure situations with professionalism.
  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Flexible availability including Saturdays.
  • Selfmotivated with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Experience Required:

  • Proven Service Department Leadership: Minimum 35 years of experience in a supervisory or management role within a dealership or automotive service center demonstrating the ability to lead and motivate a team toward exceptional performance
  • Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of automotive repair processes diagnostic tools and best practices with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service quality and efficiency.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with federal state and local regulations including OSHA and hazardous waste disposal protocols to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
