APPLICATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED TO BUILD A POOL FOR TEMPORARY HOURLY GROUNDS WORKER POSITIONS FOR THE CURRENTACADEMIC YEAR.
These are temporary hourly oncall assignments. Hours are not guaranteed and assignments are based on the needs of the department. Position(s) reports under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager and assigned Lead(s).
Position is responsible for the maintenance and care of the Colleges grounds and physical plant. Performs work in support of campuswide operations activities events and projects (sales moves setups installations recycling and litter control activities etc..

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Minimum Qualifications:
Six months of experience or comparable education/training involving grounds and utility maintenance work: such as gardening plant care cultivation and landscape installation. Physical ability to do required work AND six months experience or comparable education/training which includes the operation and upkeep of power equipment such as: tampers jackhammers trucks forklift and tractors. Valid Washington Drivers License may be required for some assignments.
Desired Qualifications:
More than one year of experience or comparable education/training involving grounds maintenance (gardening plant care cultivation and landscape installation).

Physical Work Environment:
This position performs work in an environment that requires shift on feel up to 100 of time; lifting shoving pulling pushing and carrying of heavy objects; working outdoors and in adverse conditions such as rain fog ice snow heat and various inclement weather conditions; working with strong chemicals and cleaning agents; stooping bending and reaching and walking.
Compensation and Work Schedule:
Effective July 1 2024 hourly rate is $21.65. Additional benefits include some paid sick leave in accordance with Washington State law and Initiative I1433. Sick leave is accrued at 1 hour for every 40 hours worked. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) a free counseling & referral program. Potential flexible schedule; No additional benefits.
The shift hours generally occur during the 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. workday and are considered on call for the 2024 summer and upcoming academic year. Generally up to 4 hours per shift with max of 16 hours per week.
