CNC MILL MACHINIST DEPARTMENT: MACHINING REPORTS TO: PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
PURPOSE: The CNC Machinist is responsible for operating computer numerical control and/or manual machines to machine parts. The machine operator loads parts in the machine cycles machine and detects malfunctions in machine operations such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots communicates with coworkers regarding productions runs and maintains a safe organized and clean work environment. This position covers all machine operators at Faxon Machining.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:- Performs all assigned machine shop operations including setups as necessary on CNC Milling Machines
- Utilizes fixtures cutting tools and work instructions from routers
- Reads and understands blueprints/drawings features
- Performs machine program edits as necessary
- Can read and understand machine codes
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee
- Follows tag system quality procedures and completes all relevant inprocess inspection forms including inspecting and documenting product dimensions post operation
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures
- Completes and maintains paperwork for parts
- Use of overhead crane for loading and unloading parts into machine
- Perform general maintenance on machine such as changing coolant oils and other lubricants as necessary
- Clocks time to jobs apporirately in ERP system
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent or 8 years experience as a CNC Mill Machinist
- Mechanical aptitude
- Willing to learn to become proficient in operating applicable equipment
- Good attitude
- Quality oriented
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting pushing and pulling objects that are 50 pounds or heavier.
