Position Summary
As part of a major multiyear initiative to expand research activities in Quantum Information Science across the IU Bloomington campus the College of Arts and Sciences and the Luddy School of Informatics Computing and Engineering invite applications for multiple tenure/tenuretrack positions at the associate professor rank to begin in the Fall of 2025. While appointments will be made to outstanding candidates with primary homes in one or more departments including Physics Chemistry Mathematics Computer Science and Intelligent Systems Engineering this cycle of the search is particularly focused on applicants in chemistry mathematics computer science and intelligent system engineering. Furthermore successful candidates will have the opportunity to interact broadly with our IU Quantum Science and Engineering center faculty which is a vibrant mixture of physicists chemists mathematicians computer scientists engineers linguists and economists. We are particularly interested in researchers working in the areas of quantum information theory and experiment quantum algebra or topology simulation sensing and materials. Candidates who conduct research that complements our activities in atomic/molecular/optical physics quantum simulations quantum algorithms quantum machine learning quantum algebra quantum topology materials chemistry quantum algorithms for chemistry and condensedmatter physics experimental and computational photonics and ongoing efforts within the interdepartmental Quantum Science & Engineering Center and multiinstitutional Center for Quantum Technologies will be given preference. We encourage applications from scholars who apply interdisciplinary perspectives across a variety of these domains. Responsibilities: Candidates are expected to sustain an active externally funded research program to engage undergraduate and graduate students through effective teaching and to participate in service to the university and the profession. Candidates should be able to work effectively in a team environment. .
