Job Description
The responsibilities of the Office Assistant include but are not limited to:
50 Assist with front desk coverage as needed (i.e. provide friendly helpful assistance to students and visitors; answer incoming calls; schedule appointments).
20 Post new jobs to HireJayhawks.
5 Assist with events and programs (e.g. Career Fairs).
5%Collect and compile data/surveys into reports.
5%Maintain student library materials and handouts.5%Host employer evening presentations info sessions and company days set up tables chairs food and audiovisual equipment (presentations take place primarily evenings during SeptemberOctober and FebruaryMarch).
5 Assist with marketing events programs and opportunities for engineering students.
5 General cleaning duties around the office (vacuum dust furniture clean windows).

**During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1 have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2 be preenrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3 be enrolled in summer session or 4 be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).



  1. Strong organizational skills.
  2. Extensive experience with MS Excel.
  3. Experience with Adobe Design Suite.
  4. Evening availability as needed.
  5. Federal Work Study student.


Position Overview
This student assistant will primarily support the Engineering Career Center staff by providing administrative assistance for events activities oncampus interviewing and general office operations. This position will also be responsible for serving as a host for evening company presentations.

1 Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

2 This is an hourly position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly position and a salaried graduate position (GRA/GTA/GA) concurrently.
