Responsibilities:The lab assistant for the EMS licensure courses often facilitates the link between didactic lectures and psychomotor skills/scenarios. Lab assistants should be familiar with current educations standards and objectives as well as industry best practices and standards for the licenselevel being taught.
Assist in the design and set up of skill stations and scenarios using measurable objectives
Assist in creating realistic learning situations to enhance student learning
Assist the lead instructor in assuring skill competency of EMS students
Assist in the documentation of student progress and performance during the course
Provide constructive feedback to students
Provide educational debriefing sessions at the completion of the exercise as needed
Assist in maintaining a classroom/lab environment that is conducive to effective learning mutual respect and professionalism
Serves as a professional role model for students
Encourages students to set and maintain high standards with the classroom lab and ultimately their professional careers
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Ability to translate complex problems and concepts in training
Assist lead instructor in keeping an accurate record of student attendance and grades as needed
Uses discretion and maintains confidentiality regarding student information
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities
Willingness to follow the colleges policies and procedures
Understands the expectations of the NREMT and their testing procedures
