The LA Conservation Corps (the Corps) is a private nonprofit organization that has been helping atrisk young people develop themselves since 1986. To date more than 20000 young people have participated in the Corps classes and service projects learning new skills while contributing to the quality of life for all of us in the greater Los Angeles area.

Position Summary

The Case & Transition Supervisor ensures that corpsmembers are provided with a comprehensive program of services based on a professional assessment of corpsmembers needs and availability of community resources with the goal of securing services to provide the corpsmembers with an opportunity for developing life educational and work skills to advance their own personal and career opportunities.

Essential Functions

  • Meets with participants individually to identify and assess their problems and needs; determines services required and develops a service plan.
  • Creates and maintains corpsmember files.
  • Conducts weekly individual progress meetings with program participants.
  • Maintains positive communication with other agencies for referrals of potential participants and job placement opportunities.
  • Provides shortterm counseling to participants with crises and conflicts that need immediate resolution.
  • Performs daily data entry into DOLGPMS system and ECM software to track participant information progress attendance and participation in YouthBuild activities.
  • Provides support as needed in classes workshops and training sessions for participants.
  • Assists with the coordination of corpsmember opportunities and leadership development activities
  • Assists with community presentations and recruiting for the YouthBuild program.
  • Assists with the maintenance of participant files and the collection of required DOL documentation and progress notes.
  • Maintains positive communication across all Corps departments.
  • Assists the Program Manager and Technical Supervisor as needed.
  • Maintains consistent communication with separated corpsmembers.
  • Communicates corpsmember progress personal needs and barriers to the Program Manager.
  • Assists corpsmembers in enrolling into postsecondary education.
  • Assists corpsmembers in finding employment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalency from an accredited institution required; AA and/or Bachelors degree preferred AND at least two 2 years of experience working and/or training young people of various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Previous experience working in the nonprofit or public sector preferred.
  • Competent level of computer skills (Microsoft Office environment) and the ability to complete the necessary reports.
  • Ability to effectively provide supervision training development safeguards and serve as a mentor and good role model.
  • Bilingual speaking and/or writing skills (English and Spanish) preferred

Other Requirements

  • Attend events and meetings in the community to support the program. This can involve working Saturdays or Sundays as needed.
  • California Class C Drivers License validation of driving record for commercial policy insurability per the requirements of the state of California.
  • Occasional use of private vehicle for company purposes; validation of driving record and approval of commercial policy insurability is required in conjunction with proof of personal minimum liability insurance coverage per the requirements of the State of California. Mileage will be reimbursed at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) standard mileage rate.
  • Pass a postoffer drug/alcohol screen test before commencing employment (required to submit for the drug/alcohol screening at a company designated facility)
  • Pass a postoffer Live Scan (fingerprint/background clearanceDepartment of Justice) before commencing employment.
  • Reference checks will be conducted. Employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable references.

Salary and Benefits

$25.18 $31.28per hour (reflects the entire pay range). A starting hourly rate higher than $25.18 per hour is based on a level of experience and education that exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale (salary range).
