Job Description:

Summary

The Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Preventive Medicine (VMPM) seeks a skilledResearch Scientist Ito join the Cceres Lab. In this role you will prepare chemical mixes perform molecular and virology techniques and maintain lab operations. You will lead small research projects assist with grant writing and ensure compliance with lab protocols. Additionally you will conduct in vivo studies draft technical reports and work in biosafety level 3 containment. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining lab equipment and supplies tracking personnel training communicating with sales representatives and obtaining necessary lab permits. You will provide guidance to lab personnel and manage reagent orders and packaging.

About Us:TheCceres Labaims to improve understanding of influenza coronaviruses and other viruses affecting humans and livestock employing a combination of classical molecular virology techniques reverse genetics OMICs approaches and various in vitro and in vivo models.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Examples of Duties

Develops designs and conducts one or more small or moderately complex research projects or experiments in line with plan reviews progress and evaluates results.
Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality identifies potential problems recommends and implements solutions and collaborates in the development of new techniques.
Assists with publications and writing or developing grants.
Trains users in equipment operation and laboratory techniques explains and demonstrates technology and equipment capabilities operations limitations and outcomes.
Coordinates data collection and screening and verifies the data.
Conducts analysis of data interprets and implements research methodology based on outcome of analysis.

Works on problems and issues of somewhat limited scope

May provide guidance to students
