Job Description

Reporting to the Clinical Director Laboratory Medicine the Clinical Manager will be responsible for providing direct management of the Osler laboratories. The Clinical Manager collaborates with the Chief of Laboratory Medicine the physician authorities within the lab and in consultation with leadership teams and other stakeholders.

Accountabilities:

  • Participates in laboratory strategic and tactical planning by developing goals objectives standards policies and procedures
  • Plans coordinates implements evaluates and monitors laboratory services based on the clinical and operational needs
  • Manages staff by recruiting hiring disciplining and terminating staff as required
  • Manages departmental projects ensuring successful planning implementation and on going operations
  • Leading molecular research initiatives by driving the development and integration of new molecular technologies such as digital pathology genomic profiling and personalized medicine all aimed at improving clinical outcomes
  • Overseeing projects focused on advanced molecular techniques to enhance personalized cancer care
  • Collaborating on innovative solutions by working alongside laboratory physicians researchers clinicians and technologists to develop and implement cuttingedge strategies in molecular diagnostics personalized medicine and digital pathology
  • Identifying emerging trends in molecular biology and personalized medicine ensuring that we continue to incorporate the most advanced technologies in patient care and research
  • Provides mentoring and coaching to laboratory practice leaders as required
  • Completes performance evaluations for direct reports and prepares staff development and training plans
  • Guide individuals toward the organization and departments vision while fostering teamwork and commitment to excellence
  • Effectively manage and support change in accordance with Laboratory goals clinical priorities and long range planning
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior leaders medical staff colleagues patients and the public
  • Routinely measures monitors analyzes and reports on operational performance data and quality assurance requirements
  • Apply problemsolving criticalthinking decisionmaking and system analysis skills
  • Through the use of internal and external benchmarks identifies opportunities for service improvements
  • Attend meetings and provide information as required (may be required to participate on hospital committees and attend external meetings)
  • Implements corporate action plans at the team level
  • Develops and implements a human resource plan to maximize the effective utilization of staff resources
  • Monitors and manages the annual department budget which includes staffing operational and capital resources and reports compliance
  • Establish effective structures and processes for financial accountability
  • Analyzes fiscal data and implements cost control measures
  • Identify variances and implement strategies that lead to desired outcomes
  • Initiates services to meet patient needs within resources available
  • Ensure compliance with related legislation and laws
  • Participates in identifying and responding to patient safety and risk management issues
  • Fosters and enforces workplace safety and ensures compliance to prevent workplace injuries

Qualifications :

  • Completion of an accredited medical laboratory technology diploma program and a Bachelors degree in a relevant area of chemical physical or biological science
  • Must be registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario
  • Minimum of four years of relevant experience including progressive leadership experience within laboratory operations
  • Previous five years working experience in one or more laboratory medicine modalities is preferred
  • Process improvement experience in healthcare setting and relevant training/credentials is preferred
  • Strong strategic leader with experience in complex organizations with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships including effective collaboration with Interdisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of data collection financial statements budgets and hospital and laboratory information systems
  • Proven ability to establish positive working relationships
  • Highly motivated team player
  • Established reputation as a consultative collaborative coaching and mentoring style of leadership
  • Evidence of collaboration across disciplines/divisions/departments/programs
  • Ability to work and travel between all Osler sites

Additional Information :

Hours: Currently Days Monday to Friday but must be available to attend hospital sites after hours and during emergencies (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

ANNUAL SALARY:
Minimum: $113061.00
Maximum: $141336.00
