Job Description
Sylvan Learning Center the nations leading provider of educational services seeks parttime teachers. At Sylvan Learning Center we teach students (Kindergarten through High School) at various levels to increase confidence and independence providing them with skills that will last a lifetime.
We are currently looking for experienced tutors to work at our Tarzana learning center experienced in the following:
- MATH (up to Algebra 2 or beyond)
- READING/WRITING (up to 12th grade)
As an Instructor at Sylvan your primary responsibilities are:Teaching and building rapport with students. NO LESSON PLANS!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supervise interact with and motivate students
- Reward students for completed assignments
- Evaluate and document student progress
- Communicate student needs to the center director
- Inspire and develop a rapport with students
- Establish a fun learning environment
- Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan
REQUIREMENTS
- Four year degree or equivalent
- State or provincial teaching credentials (preferred)
- Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience (preferred)
- ALL TEACHERS:
- Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension up to 5th grade
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic up to 5th grade
- MATH TEACHERS:
- Knowledge of mathematics up to and beyond Algebra 2 Calculus and Statistics
- READING TEACHERS:
- Knowledge of phonics comprehension and writing practices up to 12th grade
Compensation: $18$21/hour
