Yellowstone Clubs Outdoor Pursuits Kids department is currently seeking candidates for a Camp Counselor.
This position is responsible for guiding and teaching children in the summer camp programs and overnight trips. The age group ranges are 47 and 8. Aspects for this job require teaching environmental education outdoor survival and recreation skills teamwork and a love for nature and conservation in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Subjects include outdoor safety camping skills childrens games ice breakers; leave no trace ethics local flora and fauna hiking and fun. It is important for the summer camp counselors to have a strong enthusiasm for exploring nature with children. In addition the summer camp counselors MUST be comfortable taking kids ages 5 camping in the wilderness on private and group trips as well as engaging in activities such as but not limited to kayaking whitewater rafting rock climbing hiking and ziplining. This is a seasonal position.
Applications and hiring for this role wont start until early spring. Hiring managers will contact candidates periodically until then but response times may be slower during this period.
Responsibilities Include:
- Take responsibility for activities assigned for that day; including opening and closing procedures;
- Interact with children staff and parents in a professional and caring manner;
- Check in families and assist parent(s)/guardian(s) in filling out the required forms;
- Attend morning meeting and mandatory training sessions;
- Effectively communicate activities progress and any behavioral problems with parents and/or guardians;
- Develop and implement lesson and activity plans for kids in the program;
- Assist in the maintenance and care of the camp supplies
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma GED or vocational training
- Preferred Bachelors degree
- 1 years experience working with children ages 4 in a recreation setting (can delete bullet point regarding childcare experience for ages 12 months and above)
- 2 years experience of customer service
