DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Insurance Market Conduct Examiner Trainee you will learn how to participate in market conduct examinations in order to determine if companies are operating in compliance with Pennsylvanias statutes and regulations. Examinations may take place onsite at insurance companies inhouse at the Insurance Departments office or while teleworking from home. Duties will entail reviewing insurance companies files and electronic records such as policy forms claims consumer complaints underwriting and rating practices marketing and sales materials producer licensing operations and management and policyholder services information to determine compliance during the course of a market conduct project.


You will be responsible for identifying violations of statutes regulations and adjudications and ensuring that the examiners involved in the project secure and retain copies of documentation and evidence to support findings of violations. You will also evaluate claims processing procedures and ensure producers possess appropriate and valid licenses. This professional will prepare detailed reports of findings identify any deficiencies and provide specific recommendations for corrective actions. Excellent communication skills are vital as you may also be required to provide testimony during administrative hearings to further support findings.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Fulltime employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday Friday with a 60minute lunch.
  • Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) fulltime however you will be required to report to the office 1 day per week for the first month of employment. Following the first month of employment you will be required to report to the office 1 day per month. In order to telework you must have a securely configured highspeed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50836 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelors degree in insurance risk management business administration public administration public policy finance economics accounting or a related area;or
  • Four years of paraprofessional experience in insurance risk management business administration public administration public policy finance economics or accounting;or
  • An equivalent combination experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
