STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Structural Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduatelevel candidates to work alongside our experienced team learn and contribute to meaningful projects. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days a week in the office. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the internship for at least 3 months and can work fulltime.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and analysis of bridges and other structures applying engineering principles and techniques.
Support the preparation of design calculations construction drawings and technical reports.
Participate in the inspection and rating of existing structures ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and present design information including organizing and interpreting data.
Engage in both officebased tasks and onsite activities gaining a comprehensive understanding of structural engineering processes.
Assist in preparing project documentation including reports proposals and presentations.
Learn and apply relevant industry standards and best practices in structural design and inspection.
Perform other tasks as assigned to support project goals and team objectives.
Required:
Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in civil engineering at an ABETaccredited University or NCEES equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the architecture/engineering/construction management industry.
Familiarity with bridge inspection procedures (e.g. NBIS National Bridge Inspection Standards).
Exposure to structural analysis software such as SAP2000 MIDAS or CSI Bridge.
Understanding of load rating calculations for bridges.
Basic knowledge of nondestructive testing (NDT) methods used in bridge inspections.
Experience with AutoCAD MicroStation or Revit for drafting and detailing.
Understanding of AASHTO and DOT standards related to bridge design and inspection.
