Job Summary
The Quality Engineer will actively lead the improvement of customer satisfaction and company performance by leading the reduction of internal nonconformance and the elimination of customer returns through the effective utilization of continuous improvement techniques. Individual will also oversee assigned quality inspection personnel including their development through effective coaching and mentoring and skill development.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct efforts to effectively reduce internal s rework and prevent customer returns
- Review customer supplied drawing and/or inspection standards to investigate product defects and perform root cause analysis.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement appropriate changes within scope of responsibility.
- Work in multidepartmental teams to investigate customer quality concerns and create long term countermeasures
- Perform Corrective Action Resolution (CAR) and review of incoming supplier product defects.
- Submit shortterm and longterm countermeasures in our customers portals.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers on quality related concerns and countermeasures.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance of the plant.
- Develop implement and monitor quality standards and standard work Instructions (SWIs).
- Maintain accurate and updated quality documentation and records.
- Assist during production or quality trials.
- Attend meetings with Toyota and other customer QEs as needed to discuss Quality Outflow and/or Engineering Changes.
- Supervise Quality Team Leads and Quality Techs on daily activities.
- Monitor daily attendance and approve weekly timecards.
- Develop an effective and responsive team that adheres to established processes and work instructions.
- Ensure team adherence to company policies
- Plan schedule and lead team meetings and training sessions as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering Business Administration or related field required. Graduate degree a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in quality engineering in a manufacturing environment. Automotive industry preferred
- Experience with all facets of Product Part Approval Process (PPAP) including product launch experience preferred.
- Experience working with customer corrective actions required.
- Experience working in a IATF16949 certified environment preferred
- Familiarity with APQP methodology preferred

Computer Skills:
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office including Word Excel PowerPoint Teams and in the use of email web browser applications. Advanced proficiency in Excel preferred.
- Working experience with MRP/ERP systems a plus.
Mathematical Abilities:
Advanced math skills.
Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:
- Strong analytical planning skills and critical thinking ability required with orientation for continuous improvement.
- Ability to understand and follow written technical procedures/instructions
- Ability to effectively prepare business and technical documentation such as procedures reports presentations etc.
Communication Skills: (Writing Foreign Language Reasoning) Must be able to speak read and write and speak English
- Highly effective articulate communication skills (verbal & written) with strong interpersonal effectiveness and the ability to work with all levels in the organization with customer and across cultures
- Bilingual EnglishSpanish preferred

Physical Requirements
- 30 of the time will be spent doing desk related work on a computer and working with basic office equipment (PC fax and printer phones) while the remaining 70 will be spent on the production floor completing work related to the position.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds individually and team lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures without endangering the health or safety of self or others. Must wear all personal protective equipment where required.
