The Communications Director will play anactive role in the City of College Parks existing operational success. The purpose of theposition is to provide timely accurate and completeinformation about the operations and programs of the City of College Park.
TheDirector of Communications is responsible for serving as a key advisor to theCity in regards to the planning development implementation and control ofCommunications Marketing and Public Relations. This member of the teamwill manage marketing efforts at the strategic and tactical levels and coordinate with other team members to tieall marketing activity back to organizational goals. The successful candidate will be one who thrives in acollaborative dynamic and at times ambiguousenvironment that keeps the big picture in focus and can help the organization grow. Must be able to work with methodsthat include analytics from a variety of web and social mediaapplications. Responsible for designexecution project management and engagement the Director of Communications will be a key translator navigatorand ambassador for the organization and its mission.
The Directorof Communications leads the development of a Marketing & Communicationsplan makes strategic updates and recommendationswhen it would benefit the organization and ensures adherence to the goals and brand outlined therein. The position is responsible for the achievement of the goalsand objectives of the Marketing & Communications Plan. Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to the goals and objectives and report progress to the City Manager.
The Directorof Communications assists the organization in ensuring our communications areculturally competent and reach diverse audiences.
Manages some organizational partnerships that support organizational marketing i.e. DMOGICC Aerotropolis. A successful candidate will lead external communication efforts includingensuring consistency in presenting City information to the public in a timelyand effective manner. They will provideleadership and management on media relations; anticipates media responses andprepares spokespersons accordingly. The position is responsible for the management of the Citys cable televisionstation and contractors franchise agreements and interlocal agreements forthe Citys cable channel.
The position requires a Bachelors degree required in theareas of marketing business administration management advertising journalism public relations and/orcommunications or related fields atleast three to five years of professional experience including managing communications marketing social media and public relations activities and demonstrated skills knowledge and experience in the successful development of marketingcampaigns communications and public relations activities and a proven track record in developing a broad spectrum ofproactive media relations campaigns and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences
