Lancashire County Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grade 9 Senior Social Worker to join our Safeguarding Adults Service within the Adult Services & Health and Wellbeing Directorate. This role is crucial in leading and developing our team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable adults across Lancashire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the leadership and development of the team.
  • Provide a professional social work service including statutory social care responsibilities.
  • Lead and coordinate multiagency Section 42 safeguarding enquiries for adults with care and support needs.
  • Develop and review safeguarding adult protection plans.
  • Ensure a collaborative and personcentred approach aligned with the Care Act and Making Safeguarding Personal Agenda.
  • Work closely with partner agencies providers and other stakeholders to support positive outcomes and prevent further harm or abuse.
  • Deliver timely and highquality outcomes aligned with our service model.

Core Tasks:

  • Deliver a professional Social Work Service.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to meet statutory social care responsibilities.
  • Lead and coordinate Section 42 safeguarding adult enquiries.
  • Develop and review adult safeguarding plans.
  • Act as a primary contact for safeguarding support and advice.
  • Assess safeguarding concerns and determine the best course of action.
  • Prepare safeguarding reports for case conferences and other forums.
  • Manage your own caseload and support students and newly qualified social workers.
  • Keep accurate records using Social Care electronic record systems.
  • Contribute to policy procedural and service development.
  • Support the Team Manager in the successful running of the team.
  • Act in a consultative role to colleagues and partners in relation to complex or highrisk enquiries.
  • Chair and coordinate or attend a range of meetings specific to the service area.
  • Support or undertake work in relation to legal processes and produce highquality reports.
  • Act as a Practice Educator to student Social Workers.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: Social Work CSS CQSW DipSW or equivalent. Current Social Work England registration.
  • Experience: Experience in accepting referrals undertaking Section 42 safeguarding enquiries managing a caseload and working with a range of client groups. Experience in collaborating with other agencies and contributing to policy and service development.
  • Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of relevant legislation ability to assess and analyze needs and risks effective communication skills IT literacy and a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Other Requirements: Commitment to equality and diversity health and safety and flexible working across Lancashire. This is an essential car user post.

You must be registered (SWE) to be appointed as a Social Worker or have applied to register with the Social Care Council. For Social Worker/Care Manager positions where non social worker qualifications are accepted registration is not required and you will be appointed as a Care Manager.
