This position is for a pharmacy technician with the specialty pharmacy team. Pharmacy technicians work in a call center and pharmacy environment completing patient/caregiver outreach for refill and delivery coordination in addition to technicianspecific duties to support specialty pharmacy operations. They also work in the pharmacy preparing packages to be delivered to patients. Its MondayFriday with varying hours from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm based on the shift. There are no holiday/weekend requirements. Additionally it is a hybrid position after 90day training period with technicians rotating on site routinely to work in the packaging shift.

The Pharmacy Technician II Specialty Pharmacy position exists to provide technical expertise in the specialty pharmacy. The position supports the pharmacy by making patient calls working on prior authorizations preparing medications for delivery and completing technicianrelated duties. This role is primarily based in a call center role and will also staff in the Outpatient Pharmacy on a routine basis.
Essential Functions:
Accepts prescription establishes billing/patient charges documents patients allergies correctly interprets and enters information regarding the outpatient prescription into the computer system
Serves as call center agent answers the telephone and assists caller or forwards to appropriate individual (pharmacist pharmacy administration etc.. Places outbound calls to patients to schedule prescription deliveries.
Prepares shipments appropriately to ensure drug stability during transit.
Acts as a prior authorization subject matter expert: monitor followup with and record all insurance prior authorizations and reauthorizations required by payers to help ensure compliance and continuity of treatment. Helps support the appeal process to overturn insurance denials and/or benefit exclusions when needed.
Works on patients behalf to identify and assess reimbursement coverage options for those with insurance and coordinate and/or investigate financial options for those without insurance.
Manages pharmacy stock including ordering and organizing and notifies pharmacist or inventory coordinators of any problems or concerns
Education Requirement:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure Requirement:
Board of Pharmacy Technician License (Registered or Certified) required.
Certifications:
Completion of a pharmacy technician program two years of experience as a pharmacy technician (preferably in a setting appropriate for the position e.g. outpatient hospital etc. experienced NCH Outpatient Pharmacy Technician in good standing or a bachelors degree.
Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date.
Skills:
Demonstrated skills in algebra by passing score on math competency administered on site.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician preferred.
