Job Description

Macquarie Geotechnical is a Geotechnical Consultancy and Construction Materials Testing company working on road rail & mining Infrastructure projects throughout NSW & Victoria. We currently have a vacancy in our Melbourne office for a Trainee Laboratory Technician.

The Trainee Laboratory Technician is responsible for the testing of construction materials in accordance with (but not limited to) Australian RMS and ASTM standards. They will also be required to work in a team environment alongside other technicians and to assist in the general maintenance of the laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare samples prior to testing in accordance with their relevant Australian Standards RMS & other relevant standards as required

  • Convey a professional appearance and attitude at all times.

  • Utilise the deputy timesheet management system to record daily working hours

  • Ability to multitask and assist others when required

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Management and other employees.

  • Prepare or ensure Safe Work Method Statements have been completed prior to arriving onsite.

  • Undertake activities in accordance with the CompanysWork Health & Safety Management Plan
  • Responsible for your own time management/ activity and quality of your work.

  • Undertake on the job training

  • Prepare and complete both electronic and hardcopy paperwork/ testing schedules for laboratory testing

  • Undertake testing of soil rock aggregate and concrete in accordance with their relevant Australian Standards RMS & other relevant standards as required

    Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Great attitude and ability to learn & work in a team environment
  • Good computer skills
  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pass a fit to work medical & regular drug and alcohol screening
  • The position involves manual labour
  • Valid Drivers licence
  • White Card
