General Responsibilities
Serves as a key executive and influential leader within UAB Medicine and assists in the development and achievement of goals objectives and strategic initiatives established by the CEO UAB Hospital with collaboration of UAB Health System leadership UAB Health System Board of Directors and the University of Alabama Board of Trustees. Collaboratively provides executive leadership and management across a broad spectrum of responsibilities including both clinical and support services. By building relationships and removing barriers the EVP drives operational excellence quality and innovation across UAB Hospital ultimately ensuring organizational success.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1.Assumes comprehensive strategic administrative and financial oversight of hospital operations of both for clinical and support services for units across the University Hospital footprint.
2.Direct oversight of clinical services: Radiology Laboratory Services Operating Rooms Perioperative Heart & Vascular Center Anesthesia /Procedural areas Trauma Burn Program Inpatient Wound Services Rehab and Center for Psychiatric Medicine other areas as assigned.
3.Collaborates with other executive leaders (CNO CFO CMO CQO Chief Facilities Officer VPs of Clinical Operations and Facilities & CEO) of University Hospital to ensure continued support of the clinical enterprise.
4.Provides financial stewardship of direct reporting lines inclusive of budgeting and financial reporting.
5.Collaborates with clinical departments on ambulatory operations and plans for new resources to appropriately meet the mission of UAB Hospital operations.
6.Ensures hospital follows all laws and regulations governing healthcare delivery and rules of accrediting bodies and proposes changes when required.
7.Participates as a member of senior leadership team in a variety of committees.
8.Participates in development of hospitalwide goals plans and policies. Assists in continual review of hospital short and longterm goals.
9.Maintains knowledge of current healthrelated legislation developments in managerial theory and practices improvements in healthcare delivery systems and other related practices and systems.
10.Works collaboratively with the Hospital CEO Medical Staff SOM Department Chairs and UABHS Sr. Leadership. Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders.
11.Collaborates closely with crossfunctional teams including finance IT and quality improvement to develop and implement operational strategies that align with our overall business quality of care patient experience strategic and financial objectives.
12.Stays abreast of industry trends policy changes and emerging technologies to drive innovation and stay ahead of the curve.
13.Continuously monitors and assesses operational risks and develop and implement mitigation strategies.
14.Participates in crossfunctional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions and process improvements.
15.Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
16.Supports executive leadership in special projects and initiatives as needed.
17.Drives accountability for established performance metrics and targets to monitor and evaluate operational performance.
18.Develops and implements operational procedures and practices to integrate services ensure quality care and eliminate duplication.
19.Supports and strives toward making a positive difference in as many lives as possible by serving all people and promoting the success of each of our UAB Hospital/UAB Medicine students patients faculty and staff.Values every member of our campus and the richly different perspectives characteristics and life experiences that contribute to UABs unique environment.
20.Ensures best practice for all areas within portfolio for staff communications recruitment retention engagement professional development and performance management.
21.Understands and ensures adherence to existing policy procedures and guidelines. Provides executive guidance on policies and procedures that may require revision.
22.Collaborative participation of the master facilities planning process for UAB Hospital.
23.Promotes a culture dedicated to patientcentered care streamlined and coordinated services and continuous process improvement.
24.Utilizes various clinical effectiveness initiatives and programs for the purpose of providing patientcentered care that is safe effective and qualitydriven in collaboration with providers staff and partners.
25.Continues to build and enhance the clinical service integration ease of information flow and transparency and consistency.
26.Performs other duties as assigned.
Masters Degree in Healthcare Management Business Management or a related field and at least ten 10 years of related hospital operations experience working in a matrix environment required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirements.
