Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Department of History Philosophy and Religious Studies at Eastern Kentucky University welcomes applications for a tenuretrack Assistant Professor of History with a specialization in East Asia to begin August 2025 (tenmonth academic appointment). All regions or periods in East Asia studies will be considered. The successful applicant is expected to have teaching experience be actively engaged in research and contribute to oversight of the departments interdisciplinary minor in Asian Studies. The successful applicant will be expected to teach general education courses in World History as well as upperdivision courses related to East Asia. The teaching load is 4/4four sections comprised from two sometimes three preps each semester.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Earned Ph.D. in History with a specialization in East Asia or an earned Ph.D. in East Asian Studies with a focus on history from an accredited institution at time of appointment. ABD applicants may be considered but must have a Ph.D. (verified by official transcripts) at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of two 2 years experience teaching at the college or university level;
Evidence of potential ability in academic assignment and/or professional contributions and activities.
Job Duties:
- 60 Teaching minimum 12 credit hours per semester (typically 4classes per semester) (Essential)
- 20 Service to University College Department and Community as appropriate. (Essential)
- 20 Scholarly work in one or more of the three BoyerModel areas (Application Pedagogy Discovery). (Essential)
