Berkley Luxury is seeking an experienced commercial general liablity claims examiner. This role is located in our Northern NJ office on a hybrid schedule.

Under supervision of a member of the Claims Management teams Investigates evaluates monitors and resolves assigned claims in accordance with company standards procedures and regulatory requirements.

• Manages claim files from inception to closure including coverage analysis liability and damages investigation evaluation and resolution with management supervision.
• Reviews and sets up new loss assignments
• Establishes appropriate initial loss and expense reserves and continually evaluates the file for adequacy accuracy and adherence to reserving guidelines
• Analyzes and interprets policy language in conjunction with specific loss facts to reach appropriate coverage decisions.
• Drafts coverage correspondence including reservations of rights and coverage disclaimers in compliance with state statutes and regulations
• Proactively negotiates settlements with insureds and third parties using an object approach to claims resolution
• Composes correspondence to insureds claimants attorneys agents and regulatory agencies.
• Appropriately and clearly documents all claim file activity including current strategy plan of action and exit plan
• Works with manager to direct and control the activities and costs of outside vendors including independent adjusters experts and attorneys
• Effectively presents and discusses loss facts issues and recommendations in department discussions and meetings
• Composes Large Loss Reports and other detailed reporting documents as appropriate on a regular and timely basis
• May participate in projects and other corporate initiatives such as audits task forces focus groups etc.
• Analyzes and pursues risk transfer opportunties
• Other duties as required

#LIRS1

• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
• JD degree a plus
• 7 years of claims related experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong presentation skills.
• Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.
• Excellent problemsolving skills with the ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Demonstrated knowledge of a paperless Claims environment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
