Job Responsibilities:
The Citadels Department of Political Science is seeking applicants to fill parttime temporary adjunct teaching positions starting in August 2025. Duties may include teaching undergraduate courses or online graduate courses in international relations comparative politics and regional area studies. Undergraduate courses are offered during the day in facetoface format throughout the academic year (fall spring and summer); Graduate courses are offered online. All adjunct positions are parttime temporary and per session appointments.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Abiding by and upholding the Citadels mission policies and core values. Utilizing effective teaching and learning practices such as presentations demonstrations class discussion and other appropriate modes of instructional delivery; preparing course outlines and syllabi in accordance with program standards and in collaboration with the program coordinator. Completing student assessments required for program completion; hosting weekly office hours; meeting all scheduled class periods. Being available to students for individual consultation; submitting midterm grades for Corps students; recording class absences for Corps students and submitting final grades by the specified due date. The Citadel requires faculty to submit midterm grades for undergraduate students. The Citadel requires faculty to use the Attendance and Class Absence System to document class attendance for undergraduate students.
Minimum Qualifications:
A J.D. or an M.A. in political science is required to teach undergraduate Political Science courses and Doctorate Degree in Political Science or Law is required to teach graduate Political Science courses. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer past experience in government and military.
