You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Patient Care Assistant (PCA) High School Student assists patient care unit staff with ageappropriate delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which support nursing practice under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Carries out designated activities that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel and minors.

Care will be provided on Medical and Rehabilitation Units. Medical patients present with a variety of acute or chronic health problems often with multiple comorbidities to be managed. Complex discharge planning is often required to return these patients to the community. Additional patient population could include hospice or palliative care individuals. Rehabilitation unit accepts patients who have a temporary progressive or permanent illness or disability that interrupts or alters their physiological function psychological adaptation social situation economic status and/or vocation.
During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (prerecorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview a question will appear on your screen and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have theopportunity to rerecord your answer to each question. Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.
Must be 17 years of age prior to start date.
High school student or equivalent.
Enrolled in or completed elective Healthcare course eligible for High School or College credit preferred e.g. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course EMT course LPN course etc.
Additional Qualifications:
Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
License or Certification:
Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
If a candidate does not have their Completion of Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
Completion of Minnesota Background Study through Minnesota Department of Human Services required before start date.
Student
