Description

The Team

The Ministry of Children and Family Development promotes and develops the capacity of families and communities to care for and protect vulnerable children and youth and supports healthy child and family development to maximize the potential of every child in BC. The team is responsible for regional delivery of services and programs that support positive and healthy outcomes for children youth and their families.

The Role

The Team Assistant has a primary focus on providing daytoday program support within the social services office. The Team Assistant reports to an Office Manager or Administrative Supervisor and receives direction from Team Leads Child Protection Workers and social work assistants. The Team Assistant applies a general knowledge of the ministry mandate programs and services and clerical skills to support programs in mental health child protection guardianship adoption and/or other programs and provides a welcoming point of contact for children youth and families.


Qualifications:
Education and Experience

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
  • One 1 or more years of recent (within the last 3 years) experience providing customer service to members of the public in a fastpaced environment

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • One 1 or more years of recent (within the last 3 years) administrative support experience in an office setting
  • One 1 or more years of recent (within the last 3 years) experience working with vulnerable children and families in a human/social services setting
  • Certificate or Diploma in a relevant discipline (e.g. Office or business administration or social services)
  • Experience working independently and as a team member with a multidisciplinary environment and with other professional staff client and service providers
  • Six 6 months experience working in a computerized environment using various computer applications and data bases. (For example: Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel Outlook Lync) for word processing spread sheeting data entry email and video teleconferencing; and other database applications
  • Experience using MCFD applications: Integrated Case Management (ICM) and/or Management Information Systems (MIS) computer applications
  • Applicants who selfidentify as Indigenous (First Nations Mtis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience

About this Position:
This is a float position. Successful applicants may be required to work from any office in the Service Delivery Area. The Victoria Float Team includes Colwood Esquimalt Saanichton Saanich Sooke and Victoria.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and/or permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Flexible work options: this position may be able to work up to one 1 day at home per week as per an approved Telework Agreement.
There are currently three 3 fulltime permanent positions available.
