Job Description

Administrative Faculty Contract. Non Tenure Track Benefits Eligible. This position is a temporary position that will be subject to continued funding

This is an administrative position reporting to the Director of WCTE with responsibility for outreach industry partnerships and workforce training development to drive enrollment and expand the skilled talent pipeline in skilled trades fields. This includes leading managing and overseeing WNCs skilled trades programs whichincludes Advanced Manufacturing Automotive Technology Construction Machine Tool and Welding.

Position responsibilities include promoting the value of training for lifelong career success developing strong public/private partnerships (P3s) that link students directly to employment expanding innovative delivery models to improve access to training and increasing program enrollment to support a strong resilient talent pipeline for the region and state.

This position will develop guide implement oversee and/or contribute to a variety of activities initiatives and committees serving in a leadership role for faculty staff industry representative and community partners to raise awareness of skilled trades programs and ensure curriculum aligns with labor force needs. Other responsibilitiesinclude coordinating the development and implementation of industrydriven programs; serving as the primary contact resource and facilitator between skilled trades employers and the college; planning and supervising grant related program deliverables; developing implementing and maintaining systems to track employer contracts/partnerships advisory board goals and outcomes and collaborations with community agencies

Duties and Responsibilities:

Community outreach partnership development and enrollment support

  • Serve as primary contact for employers related to skilled trades programs

  • Strategically conduct and coordinate outreach and activities that raise awareness elevate interest expand partnerships and increase enrollment for skilled trades programs

  • Establish a network and relationships with skilled trades employers; maintain regular contact; troubleshoot and repair relationships when necessary

  • Establish and/or maintain at least one formal industry partnership for each skilled trades program

  • Meet with employers to identify and inventory their training needs employment offerings and hiring gaps; determine if and where the college can help fill these gaps

  • Determine colleges capacity and alignment to meet employer or community training requests

  • Oversee skilled trades advisory committees providing support and guidance to faculty in maintaining relevant membership developing annual goals/focus developing agenda leading meetings and tracking outcomes

  • Develop implement and maintain systems to track employer contracts/partnerships advisory board goals and outcomes and collaborations with community agencies

  • Regularly conduct industry surveys and employer interviews to support program development grantapplications and assessment activities such as the Perkins Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment and workforce program reviews

  • Coordinate and host campus tours for skilled trades program

  • Plan and coordinate employer tours for administration faculty and other relevant stakeholders

  • Assist faculty to coordinate industry tours for students when needed

Workforce training development

  • In coordination with the WCTE Director seek opportunities to strategically add new programs or expand existing programs in areas that are beneficial to the regional workforce and cost effective for the college (non credit and creditbased)

  • Lead the development and implementation of new programs to include all components: curriculum development delivery methods logistics timing student identification and recruitment

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Battery Recycling training initiative

  • Seek opportunities coordinate the deployment and track outcomes of the mobile manufacturing lab

  • Collaborate with the WCTE Director college stakeholders employers and community agencies to identify develop and implement innovative methods of offering training (time location length etc.

  • Work with employers and community agencies to identify and develop incumbent worker training opportunities

  • Develop workbased learning opportunities such apprenticeships internships and job shadows incollaboration with appropriate internal and external stakeholders

Manage skilled trades programs

  • Serve as primary contact and resource for skilled trades faculty

  • Regularly review update restructure and/or adjust programs to ensure curriculum is relevant and industry aligned; student learning outcomes and completion are achievable; and programs are cost effective andfiscally sustainable

  • Lead and coordinate curriculum development assessment and delivery to ensure quality outcomes forstudents and employers

  • Lead development of annual goals and targets for each program to include enrollment certifications/assessment and completions

  • Identify and coordinate resources training and professional development opportunities to support faculty and staff

Conduct administrative functions

  • Oversee grants associated with skilled trades areas to ensure requirements and deliverables are met

  • Create and implement streamlined processes around a PlanDoCheck/StudyAct model

  • Advance the colleges strategic mission vision and goals through outreach and training

  • Coordinate and ensure completion of accreditationrelated activities and requirements through collaboration with faculty and the Accreditation Coordinator

  • Collect and communicate/disseminate information about skilled trades to the campus and community

  • Maintain documentation relevant to the ongoing operation and success of skilled trades programs

  • Maintain organized current files of information and data to include: programs curriculum partnerships advisory committees grant activities/outcomes outreach efforts interinstitutional collaborations inventory etc.

  • Plan and produce required ad hoc reports as requested

  • Prepare and present well crafted succinct reports and presentations as needed to include such things as employer engagement metrics program outcomes internship/employment placements and other relevant data

  • Model open communication respect and collegiality with all stakeholders

Professional responsibilities and other duties as assigned

  • Establish and maintain an appropriate network of professional contacts in other NSHE and regional institutions

  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging labor force trends and industry best practices equipment and certifications

  • Stay abreast of national regional and local trends that may provide opportunities or impact programs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution and three years of professional experience in workforce career and technical education and/or economic or workforce program development and/or development and management of workbased learning experiences (job shadows internships apprenticeships etc. Two years of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelors degree (i.e. AA4 years related professional experience). A minimum of an Associates degree is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in workforce career and technical education or economic development directly related to skilledtrades

  • Experience working with employers to address hiring and training needs

  • Experience working in or with rural or frontier communities

  • Experience in or with higher education

  • Experience with local regional or statewide workforce development initiatives

  • Second language proficiency (written and oral) Spanish preferred.

Minimum Starting Salary Information:

This position is at a salary grade C. The minimum of the placement range is $73531.55. The selected candidate will be placed at or above the minimum based on education and experience. WNCs placement range falls within the NSHE salary schedule: NSHE ADMINISTRATIVE SALARY SCHEDULE
