Consumer Lending Risk Consultant –
The Role
The Risk consultant is responsible for providing compliance and operational risk management expertise and leadership for banking key initiatives. This role will specifically support activities related to digital delivery for Business products by providing risk subject matter expertise in several key areas including Credit Risk Data Protection and Privacy Fraud Fair and Responsible Banking Models Technology Information Security as well as other applicable laws and regulations.
Essential Functions
- Provide compliance and operational risk subject matter expertise (SME) to ensure compliance with applicable U.S. federal regulations and state laws. Engage other risk SMEs as needed but ultimately responsible for making decisions and accountable for the decisions made
- Knowledge on Mortgage regulations including Regulation Best Interest Fair Lending Act Equal Credit Opportunity Act RESPA GFE and HUD1 Disclosures Home Ownership Protection Equity Act (HOPEA)
- Establish and maintain appropriate systems of risk management and internal controls to support business objectives maintain acceptable risk appetite/tolerances and comply with applicable laws and regulations
- Make informed risk decisions expeditiously to ensure consistent and timely risk support for the project teams
- Partner with peer Strategic Initiatives and Product Risk Support Risk Teams Business and Corporate Banking leaders and Second Line of Defense Risk partners to ensure an effective risk management framework
- Facilitate the identification of gaps and drive solutions that minimize losses resulting from inadequate internal processes systems or human errors. Ensure the active identification response and/or escalation of risks as appropriate
- Take initiative to influence strategies policies and procedures to promote a strong customer experience while maximizing profit potential and minimizing regulatory exposure
- Navigate all risk approvals required for Enterprise Change Management as needed.
- Lead and/or support strategic initiatives in an anticipatory posture related to the rapidly changing risk and compliance environment while balancing process efficiencies and customer experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Proven experience and subject matter expertise of compliance and operational risks related to digital properties and business banking products
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with the industry products policies operations and procedures related to business banking products
- Strong professional presence to support regular interactions with senior management
- Demonstrated skills in leadership and management of process projects and people
- Strong analytical skills and strategic thinker
- Strong collaboration interpersonal management and ability to interact and present to management
- Ability to work in an open fastpaced and dynamic environment
- Ability to research and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Demonstrated oral and written communication and interpersonal skills planning and implementation skills and negotiation
- Previous experience in Agile work environment preferred
- Certifications desired (e.g. Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager – CRCM)
