Job Title: Certified Officer Public Safety and Security

The certified public safety and security officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students staff and visitors by patrolling the campus reporting crime and enforcing policies of the university.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators
The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Job Responsibilities and
- Secures premises by patrolling property monitoring surveillance equipment and inspecting buildings equipment and access points
- Upholds the universitys standards and reputation by complying with legal requirements of the Clery Act
- Provides public assistance including lockout services first aid vehicle jumpstarts and traffic direction
- Prevents loss and damage by reporting irregularities and informing violators of policy and procedures
- Maintains uptodate knowledge of the universitys Emergency Action Plan
- Enforces campus parking regulations
- Completes incident/accident reports for missing or stolen property and criminal activity; assures accurate reports including detailed complete observations and information
- Enforces and upholds university policies
Service Excellence
Communication Teamwork and Collaboration
- Completes reports by recording observations information occurrences and surveillance activities
- Educates violators on proper policies and procedures
- Interviews witnesses and obtains signatures
Job may require other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications An equivalent combination of education training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience
- Valid drivers license
- Acceptable background check (must be completed within 30 days of hire)
- Law enforcement or prior military experience
- Firearm proficiency as well as ability to meet St. Charles County licensing qualifications to carry a department issued firearm while onduty
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications
- Must complete a psychological evaluation and drug screen upon a conditional offer of employment
