Description

This is a paid opportunity to work alongside other students and university staff to develop new careers focused blog posts and information resources that are tailored for students who are either careexperienced or estranged from their family.

To ensure that the resources we cocreate are authentic and informed by the lived experience of care experienced or estranged students this vacancy is only open to students who are either care experienced (have spent timein local authority care) or are estranged (have no contact with their family).

We would like to recruit 5 students to form a student and staff cocreation team.

Start Date:26th March 2025
End Date: April 2025 with possibility of extension
Working Hours:Up to 5 hours per week
Pay Rate: 11.44 per hour plus holiday pay
Location: University Park Campus (with some meetings on MS Teams)
Dress Code: Smart Casual

Our first cocreation session will be inperson on Wednesday 26th March 1pm 4:30pm. It will take place on university park campus. During this meeting well start to get to know one another andbegin to identify potential career related topics themes and questions that may resonate with careexperienced or estranged students. Well thenscope out our new resources and decide how well write these. Well agree tasks that each of us will complete independently (at a time that suits you) before our next meeting.

Well then meet again twice online via Teams during April (times/dates to be agreed by the group). Each meeting will last 1 hour. During these meetings well check in on progress and refine content further and then finalise and collectively sign off the new resources weve created together.

The duties will include:

Attend and actively participate in cocreation sessions to collaboratively:

  • identify and explore career related topics themes and questions that may resonate with care experienced or estranged students
  • generate ideas and scope out resources
  • draft shape and finalise content

Commit to completing agreed independent tasks (at a time that suits you) between sessions


Skills and experience required for the role:

  • Must be a current University of Nottingham student who is either care experienced (have spent time in local authority care) or is estranged (have no contact with their family).
  • Must be able to attend cocreation sessions on:

Session 1: Wednesday 26th March 1pm 4:30pm inperson oncampus

Session 2: date/time to be agreed by the group online via Teams

Session 3: date/time to be agreed by the group online via Teams

  • Must be willing to commit to a small amount of paid independent work between cocreation sessions to complete agreed tasks.
  • A willingness to fully engage with and contribute to the project.
  • A genuine interest in working with university staff members to cocreate resources that aim to support care experienced and estranged students.
