Job Description

Position Summary
The University of Central Arkansas Department of Film Theatre and Creative Writing invites applications for a ninemonth tenuretrack Assistant Professor of Theatre Scenic Design beginning August 16 2024. The successful candidate will be a collaborative theatre generalist committed to student creativity and success; committed to diversity belonging inclusion and equity initiatives; have experience teaching at the university level; have university and/or professional scenic design experience; and possess a terminal degree in Theatre or related field. The Theatre program at UCA offers a BA in Theatre with seven fulltime faculty/staff. The program operates out of two buildings with our primary performance space being a new stateoftheart black box theatre in the Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts. The production schedule includes two student showcases two workshops and two mainstage shows per year. Additionally the program will operate a professional summer company the UCA Summer Theatre producing a familyfriendly musical beginning in the summer of 2024. The Theatre program at the University of Central Arkansas strives to develop creators innovators and leaders through the combination of storytelling technology and critical thinking and is committed to supporting and enhancing a multicultural environment that values diversity belonging inclusiveness and equity.
