Position Description
The Department of Human Services at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified motivated and wellorganized applicants for a pool temporary of parttime teaching appointments.

Department of Human Services
The Human Services Department at CSU Dominguez Hills has over 500 majors and is housed in the College of Health Human Services and Nursing. Human Services is a popular major attracting a diverse student body that is actively engaged in the community through the integration of academic courses and internship experiences.
Mission
The mission of the Human Services Department is to provide diverse members of the community a university education that focuses on the knowledge and skills required to help those in need. The goals of the department are to provide a broad interdisciplinary background of the knowledge and skills needed to improve the quality of life for target populations or methods of intervention; through supervised fieldwork to provide experience applying academic knowledge and skills in human services organization.

The Position
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled based on student enrollment and authorized funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in midDecember; the Spring term begins midJanuary and ends in midMay. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.
Responsibilities
The main responsibility for this lecturer position will be to teach a specific class hold office hours communicate and resolve student issues as pertaining to the class with the department chair and other faculty/staff in the department. Additional responsibilities include attending departmental retreats and meetings and as assigned when discussed and hired.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- A Masters degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
- Applicants must have experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse ages socioeconomic cultural and academic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Ph.D. or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upperdivision core courses 300 or 400level).
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
Employment Requirement
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
In accordance with the California State University (CSU) OutofState Employment Policy the CSU is a state entity whose business operations reside within the State of California and prohibits hiring employees to perform CSUrelated work outside of California.
Salary and Benefit Information
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024 the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5507 $ 6677
Lecturer B: $6221 $13224
Lecturer C: $6825 $14523
Lecturer D: $8593 $15211

A United States (US) Equivalency certification is required for earned/awarded/conferred foreign terminal degrees which is from a foreign Academic Institution for foreign studies. The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States. The certification must translate the information in English and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e. Bachelors Masters Doctorates Doctors of Philosophy).
