Job Description
Broadband Engineering Staff
What Youll Be Doing
Broadband Engineering Staff work with colleagues and clients to usher projects through various stages from start to finish. The types of projects may include multiyear phased construction projects; grant applications with tight deadlines; federal auctions; and other initiatives.
As a Broadband Engineering Staff team member you will work as a bridge between onsite bootsontheground staff contractors and technical engineering plans helping bring projects from concept to fruition under the guidance and direction of a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Common tasks include strategic planning plans and specifications development vendor evaluations and operations reviews. Other responsibilities may include telecommunications network architecture design electronics system engineering emerging technology studies grant and loan application narratives and technical responses product research technical system documentation project management project acceptance testing and other related activities. Broadband Engineering Staff team members can expect to communicate frequently with clients and vendors and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
The ideal candidate is organized eager to learn professional and adaptable. Attention to detail and strong interpersonal communication skills are vital. The nature of the role requires a team player meaning someone who can take ownership of assigned tasks collaborate well with other members of the team and proactively seeks to help team members push a project to the finish line. This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
Skills and Requirements
Required Competencies
- Attention to detail (proofreading validating data etc.
- Strong interpersonal communication in person over the phone via email and other digital platforms
- Strong written communication (reports grant applications etc.
- Accountability: ability to take ownership and responsibility for assignments duties and projects
- Proficiency in common Microsoft programs including Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to learn
- Adaptability
Education & Experience
Successful applicants should have a degree from a technical institution or university or applicable experience. Engineering backgrounds are welcome but not required. Familiarity with project management engineering principles or the telecommunications industry is a plus but not required.
