Vectra AIs Office of the CTO is seeking to expand the Emerging Technologies team to include a Principal Systems Engineer contributing to the companys next generation of AIbased products and services. This role will focus on the data architecture technology qualification scalability and engineering tasks vital to convert research prototypes into large scale performant and reliable systems.
The ideal candidate will both collaborate through the difficult challenges of earlystage research and development while also working independently and autonomously in their specialized area of focus. Additionally this role must be comfortable with the ambiguity of openended research while maintaining a strong bias to converge that research into a concrete and supportable specification and implementation.
Team Responsibilities:
- Envision develop and test prototypes to demonstrate feasibility and potential impact to new or existing lines of business.
- Transition prototypes from earlystage design into longterm supportable state in partnership and collaboration with peers across organizational boundaries.
- Research emerging or newly viable technologies to identify innovation opportunities.
- Promote continuous learning experimentation and collaboration throughout CTO organization and across organizational boundaries at Vectra AI.
Individual Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership on core design decisions and tradeoffs related to data architecture across prototyped systems.
- Architect scalable and robust systems that integrate with existing cybersecurity tooling technologies and enduser workflows.
- Leverage data architecture and engineering expertise to collaborate with crossfunctional teams chartered to identify and enable opportunities for research acceleration through platform capabilities.
- Capacity to flex into adjacent technical domains to maintain research velocity.
Qualifications:
- Strong passion for improving developer productivity and system performance.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with modern applications and distributed systems.
- Proven track record of leading and delivering complex projects from inception to deployment.
- Strong fundamentals and handson experience with designing and implementing large scale data processing systems.
- Experience designing and interacting with complex data models.
- Proficiency in programming languages (Python C/C or Rust) used in production.
- Bachelors or masters degree in computer science engineering or equivalent experience.
- Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience working in R&D organization.
- Familiarity with machine learning and data processing frameworks.
