POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Principals chief responsibility is to promote the educational wellbeing of each student within the school. This position has supervisory responsibility and creates a unifying workforce vision that brings team member development performance management and succession planning together. The Assistant Principal reports to the director of operations and will assist the principal with instructional duties as outlined. The Assistant Principal must have a flexible schedule in order to work hours necessary to fulfill his/her job requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists in the overall administration of the school with a strong commitment to the activities and operations associated with students teachers and parents with other specific duties as assigned by the Director of Operations in coordination with the site principal.

  • Acts as School Level Standardized Testing Coordinator facilitates administration of NWEA MAP testing pre/post testing JH midterms and finals and implements the usage of educational technology (PowerSchool (AZ) Infinite Campus (NV) NWEA MAP Learning Farm BrainPop etc. Create COW schedule rotation and troubleshoot technology concerns.

  • Assist with training for teachers hired after the start of the school year such as (PowerSchool (AZ) Infinite Campus (NV) NWEA MAP IXL Classroom Setup and New Hire Checklist.

  • Confers with teachers students and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school.

  • Acts as school attendance and truancy officer.

  • Responsible for the creation submission updating training and implementation of the school emergency operations plan.

  • Conforms to all safety rules and use of all appropriate safety equipment.

  • Develops future school leaders.

  • Reviews weekly lesson plans for all special area and Junior High teachers.

  • Oversees and develops duty and dismissal schedules.

  • Creates individual support staff schedules.

  • Collect and review Title I tutors and paraprofessionals time and effort logs.

  • Oversee student discipline documents the incidents and calls parents. All student report entries must be documented in PowerSchool (AZ) or Infinite Campus (NV) at the conclusion of each instructional day.

  • Addresses parent issues and documents accordingly. All student report entries must be documented in PowerSchool (AZ) or Infinite Campus (NV) at the conclusion of each instructional day.

  • Schedules documents trains staff and complies with fire drills lockdowns and evacuation requirements.

  • Oversight of McKinney Vento program.

  • Serves as District Representative for IEP/MET meetings

  • Follows up on all phone calls and emails in a timely manner

  • Attends school events as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Junior High Duties

  • Creates and implements Junior High Scheduling.

  • Legacy ValueProgram monitors teacher implementation manages points and provides parent notification of 5 and 10 point deductions ISS and OSS Behavior Academic Contracts.

  • Oversees Junior High flag ceremonies.

  • Oversees LVP day planning.

  • Oversees Weekly/BiWeekly Junior High team CTM meetings.

  • Oversees Junior High Parent contact.

  • Oversees Word Strides and end of year JH Field trip.

Essential Athletic Director Duties

  • Schedules all games.

  • Hires and develops coaches.

  • Ensures attendance of LTS designee at all home games.

  • Orders stores and maintains all uniforms and athletic equipment.

  • Attends seasonal CAA Athletic Director Meetings.

  • Completes all required paperwork and ensures that Legacy Athletics is in compliance with CAA (I.E. concussion protocols)

  • Facilitates seasonal Mandatory Parent Meeting.

  • Completes grade checks twice per month and enforces eligibility requirements.

  • Responsible for all parent communication regarding athletics.

  • Coordinates EndofSeason banquets for Fall Winter and Spring sports.

Essential Community Education Program Administrator Duties

  • Serves as lead for all Community Education Programs: LKC KEEP Nonschool Days Summer Days and Clubs.

    • If Preschool: Works with Community Ed Coordinator.

  • Oncall for before or after school LKC session.

  • Creates LKC Nonschool Days and Summer Days staff schedules to maintain a 30:1 child: staff ratio.

  • Hires trains and monitors LKC activities to ensure staff members follow the daily schedule.

  • Effectively communicates to all LKC staff and LTS families regarding program updates.

  • Works in collaboration with Community Education to communicate with families regarding their account activity for LKC KEEP Nonschool days Summer Days and Preschool (where applicable): registration scheduling and payments.

  • Collects rosters and payments for all clubs and vendors.

  • Maintains LKC Dashboards.

  • Inventories and orders LKC materials resources and supplies for daily activities.

  • Manages LKC discipline and brings concerns to the attention of the Principal.

  • Attends District Community Education Meetings.

Essential EL Coordinator Duties

  • Keep uptodate with the EL list for your school (this will be a google document that will be shared with you).

  • Work with the principal to ensure that EL Testers (proctors) are dependable & trained and have a time & place & resources to complete their testing as needed.

  • Ensure that any new EL students are given the AZELLA Placement test within 10 days of their enrollment date. Once results are received they must obtain parent consent for the student to participate in the EL program. Attempts up to 3 must be documented on the EL/FEP Roster that was mentioned in the first bullet.

  • Work with the principal to ensure that the teachers and tutors of your EL students are SEIendorsed.

  • Process all Consent forms and Withdrawal forms.

  • Observe EL teachers to ensure that they are using SEI strategies with these students.

  • Ensure program schedules for SEI Targeted and Integrated EL Instruction are created and are being followed.

  • Monitors the effectiveness of EL Tutor.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY

  • Hires trains develops and appraises teaching staff effectively. Develops teaching staff to improve individual learning environment techniques.

    • Observes and evaluates staff performance.

    • Provides quick remediation for low teacher performance.

    • Documents employee issues and refers to principal for corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with district policy.

    • Conducts end of year formal evaluations for all special areas and Junior High teachers.

  • Hires trains develops and appraises support staff effectively. Develops support staff to

    • improve individual performance.

    • Provides quick remediation for low performance.

    • Documents employee issues and refers to the Director of Operations for corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with district policy.

    • Conducts end of year formal evaluation for all instructional support staff to include classroom/lunch aides program paraprofessionals and Title 1 paraprofessionals.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

Assistant Principals must have a high level of interpersonal skills in order to handle sensitive and confidential situations. This position requires demonstrated poise tact and diplomacy. Assistant Principals must work effectively and relate well with others including superiors colleagues and individuals inside and outside of the district. Assistant Principals must act in a professional manner in dealing with others and they must work to maintain constructive working relationships. They must also have the ability to represent the school and district effectively in a variety of settings with diverse communities. Assistant Principals must also have the ability to demonstrate understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures. This position also requires:

  • An indepth knowledge of school operations.

  • Subject matter expertise within the educational community on school operations.

  • Demonstrated program development and implementation skills.

  • The planning of the work of others and the coordination of work with other departments or external agencies.

  • The ability to read write analyze and interpret policies procedures and regulations.

  • The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students parents community members faculty staff media supervisors managers and directors.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • The ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations.

  • The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule forms.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop staff.

  • The ability to complete work in a timely accurate and thorough manner showing conscientiousness about assignments (leads by example).

  • A flexible schedule in order to work hours necessary to fulfill job requirements.

  • The ability to build consensus that permeates the entire staff through the development and implementation of a professional learning community.

Education Licensure or Certification

Has earned a Masters Degree in Education and is working toward an administrative certificate. The candidate will work and be paid as teacheronassignment until the administrative certificate is finalized.

Work Experience or Related Experience

Preferred three or more years of teaching experience in a variety of grade levels.

BACKGROUND CHECKS

The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times.

PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

Travel between campuses is required from time to time.

This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.

This position may require sitting for long periods at times talking on the phone standing kneeling stooping and long periods of concentration.

Local and instate travel required.
