Job Requirements:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cake Specialist to join our team. The Cake Specialist will be responsible for creating a wide variety of cakes from classic flavors to customdesigned confections. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cake decorating baking and an eye for detail. This role involves working in a fastpaced bakery environment ensuring each cake meets highquality standards and delivering exceptional customer service for custom cake orders.
Key Responsibilities:
Cake Baking & Preparation:
- Prepare and bake cakes fillings and frostings following standard recipes or customer specifications.
- Ensure consistent quality and texture of all baked products.
- Measure and mix ingredients accurately to maintain consistency in taste and appearance.
Cake Decorating:
- Design and decorate cakes for a variety of occasions (e.g. birthdays weddings holidays).
- Use various decorating techniques such as fondant work buttercream piping sugar flowers and edible embellishments.
- Customize cakes with customerrequested themes colors and designs.
Customer Service:
- Interact with customers to take custom cake orders offering suggestions and ensuring their vision is understood and executed.
- Advise customers on cake sizes flavors and decoration options based on their needs and event requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment ensuring all deadlines are met.
Inventory & Supply Management:
- Monitor inventory of baking ingredients and decorating supplies.
- Assist with ordering and replenishing stock to ensure the bakery has all necessary items on hand.
Quality Control & Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean organized work area ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Inspect finished cakes to ensure they meet the quality standards for both taste and presentation.
- Handle and store ingredients properly to minimize waste and preserve freshness.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other bakers and staff to ensure smooth bakery operations.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff or new team members when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in cake baking decorating and custom cake creation.
- Strong knowledge of cake decoration techniques (fondant buttercream airbrushing piping etc..
- Creative with an eye for detail and able to design cakes based on customer ideas or themes.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper hygiene practices in the kitchen.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple orders with tight deadlines.
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal pastry or baking education (e.g. culinary school specialized cake decorating courses).
- Experience with modern cake trends such as drip cakes geode cakes or themed decorations.
- Previous experience in a commercial bakery environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to insert weight e.g. 25 pounds for tasks such as carrying cake boxes or ingredient containers.
- Dexterity for fine decoration work.
Work Environment:
- Work is typically performed in a commercial kitchen or bakery setting.
- Regular exposure to heat ovens and kitchen equipment.
