    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Evidence of completion of twelve 12 college/university units in area of child development
    2. High school diploma or equivalent
    3. Current Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate and/or criminal background clearance by Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation
    4. Demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading writing and mathematics or reading readiness writing readiness and mathematics readiness as appropriate.
    5. Knowledge in areas of general music; art physical education and/or environmental education
    6. Ability to organize and implement variety of educational recreational and playground activities
    7. Ability to work with children of diverse ethnic racial cultural educational and economic backgrounds
    8. Bilingual ability may be required depending on assignment

    REPORTS TO: Administrator as assigned

    JOB GOAL: To assist school staff in developing and implementing flexible extended day activity program designed to meet special interests talents and abilities of participating students

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Adheres to full implementation of program guidelines and procedures of the Extended Learning Program
    2. Assists in developing and implementing educational recreational and playground activities for students participating in extended day program
    3. Works with individual students or small groups of students in meeting educational needs
    4. Works with parents and staff in promoting awareness and understanding of extended day program
    5. Participates in inservice training programs as assigned
    6. Assists in selection of appropriate supplies materials and equipment for extended day program
    7. Assists in maintaining necessary records and files relating to extended day program
    8. Maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students
    9. Models personal and professional values of equity integrity caring collaboration personal and collective accountability
    10. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required


    SALARY: $20.03 $32.55 per hour


    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Districts Improvement of Professional Services handbook Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collectivebargaining agreements when applicable

    NEW PROBATIONARY EMPLOYEES AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES WHO BECOME PROBATIONARY UPON RECLASSIFICATION:

    A new employee or a permanent employee who is changed to a new classification shall serve a probationary period which shall not exceed 6 months of duty time exclusive of leaves of absence or other absences. During thisprobationary period the employee must meet the required standards of performance to be recommended for permanentstatus in the classification. A probationary classified service employee may be terminated from the probationaryclassification at any time without cause without right of appeal or hearing before the Board of Education. Pursuant toEducation Code section 45113 a permanent employee who accepts a promotion and fails to complete the probationaryperiod for that promotional position shall be employed in the classification from which he or she was promoted.

    a. Two years 48 semester units) of study at an accredited college or university
    b. Associates or higher degree from an accredited college or university
    c. Passage of BCSD Paraprofessional Test

    Copies of required certificates transcripts or diplomas may be submitted with application. District mayrequire the originals be presented for verification prior to employment. Please check with HumanResources regarding acceptable certificates. For positions requiring college course work official transcriptswill be required upon employment.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California MotorVehicle operators license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department ofJustice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification ofcompletion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six 6 weeks of hire and annuallythereafter as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
