What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran
As a Water Distribution O&M Technician you will participate in the operations maintenance and repairs of the water distribution system. You will be repairing water pipes valves hydrants and other appurtenances. As well as operating a variety of heavy equipment such as excavators track loaders vactrucks and backhoes. You will also be welding and fabricating parts and tools repairing water mains assisting with responding to and resolving customer complaints repairing streets driveways and yards following installation operations. Lastly you will assist in locating and inspecting new lines and other related duties.
Positions are available for licensed experienced operations and maintenance professionals and for inexperienced individuals looking for their first fulltime job or those in the water/sewer industry seeking to make a career change.Those filling these rewarding fulltime positions will be part of a team responsible for the operation and maintenance of facilities equipment and/or process control at water and wastewater facilities.
Schedule: Will require an irregular work schedule and overtime hours
What will you need to succeed
- Positive attitude and work ethic.
- High School graduate or equivalent. A mechanical/technical/vocational school background or experience is a plus.
- A valid Missouri motor vehicle operators license. A commercial drivers license (CDL) is a plus.
- The ability to perform manual labor. Must be able to lift or move up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
- Minimum of 1year relevant experience or combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of the repair maintenance and installation of distribution systems
- Knowledge of the operation and preventative maintenance of a variety of equipment
- Skilled in the use of a variety of hand and power tools
- Skilled in oral and written communication
- DS I minimum or the ability to obtain within the first 6 months.
- Class A CDL preferred / Class B with Air Brakes or the ability to obtain within the first 6 months
- Participate in an oncall rotation
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a DOT background check DOT preplacement physical and DOT drug screen before employment.
- May stand walk or move 6 to 8 hours daily.
- May sit for 1 to 3 hours daily.
- May perform operations and maintenance functions requiring manual dexterity and precision movements continuous or repetitive arm and hand movements grasping movements and occasional forceful exertion.
- Exert moderate though not constant physical effort typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing stooping kneeling crouching and crawling bending and reaching climbing stairs and ladders.
- May lift carry push/pull objects and materials: regularly up to 40 pounds.
- Perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors sounds odor depth and visual cues or signals.

$25 $28 an hour
Depending on qualifications and experience.
