Job Description
POSITION Union: Cartographer I
NUMBER OF OPEN POSITIONS: 1
LOCATION: ME Augusta General Office
HOURLY RATE: $22.65 $28.85
JOB SUMMARY:
This position maintains computer systems for modeling electric distribution system in accordance with company procedures and standards. Interacts with internal customers by providing technical assistance and support.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs updates to electric distribution related computer model transactions.
- Performs quality control checks of GIS data on related distribution systems.
- Provides specialty maps such as: switch and wall maps for Service Centers as requested.
- Assists in data requests for regulatory agencies.
- Performs daily maintenance for multiple service centers using ArcGIS software
- Performs layout of new facilities for electric distribution systems.
- Attends quarterly safety meeting.
- Other ancillary duties related to the core functions of the jobs as assigned.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Working knowledge of the GIS system
- Able to assist others with understanding of transactions.
- Able to read interpret and analyze basic design sketches.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to interact with other technical support personnel users and management.
- Able to interface with internal clients.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- 2 years experience as a GIS Technician or 2 years related work experience.
- Ability to run associated supporting software systems ie: ArcGIS Smartmap Circuit Map Editor Microsoft Office Suite SAP.
