Augustana University invites applications for the position of Admission Counselor.
The Admission Counselor is responsible for managing recruitment efforts in a defined territory public speaking engagements leadership at university recruitment events multichannel communication with prospective students application reading and evaluation financial aid counseling and managing special projects.
The duties competencies and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Cultivate relationships with prospective students and provide accurate information about admission policies and processes at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Articulate the value and values of an Augustana education to prospective students and families as well as high school counselors community college personnel alumni pastors and community members.
- Develop and implement a recruitment plan for an assigned geographic territory.
- Meet with prospective students and their families during oncampus visits.
- Communicate with prospective students throughout the recruitment and application process including extensive correspondence via phone and email.
- Generate and review applications for admission and scholarships.
- Represent Augustana at a variety of functions including college fairs high school visits
receptions and community events. - Plan and implement travel to strategic target markets in the fall and spring months; some weekend and evening work is required.
- Manage select student recruitment programs and special projects as assigned by the enrollment leadership team.
- Financial aid counseling and advising.
Qualifications for this position:
- Bachelors Degree.
- Valid Drivers License (Must have had a valid drivers license for at least 2 years.
- Extensive experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- This position requires some night and weekend responsibilities.
- Ability to travel regionally.
- Minimum of one year of experience in higher education enrollment secondary education (working with high schoolaged students) marketing and/or sales is preferred.
