Job Description
The Department of English at Marshall University seeks to fill a threeyear term faculty position at the rank of Instructor to begin in August 2025. Candidates must provide strong evidence of excellence in teaching and commitment to teaching the Marshall University student population. Tied to courses in the composition sequence ENG 101101P 201 and 201H) as well as other courses in the generaleducation curriculum of the University and the College of Liberal Arts this position involves a teaching load of 12hours/semester (fall and spring). All Marshall University faculty must display a commitment to general education including requirements for criticalthinking classes and writingintensive requirements. The department also seeks candidates who will contribute to the Universitys general education curriculum and its emphasis on using highimpact teaching practices particularly those affiliated with one (or more) of the institutions pedagogical initiatives(e.g. Communitybased Learning Critical Thinking First Year Seminar Writing Across Curriculum etc.. Additionally the ideal candidate will contribute to the Colleges support of interdisciplinary programs of study. Duties will include a fulltime teaching load of 12 hours per semester in addition to participation in service scholarship and/or creative activities and other duties as designated by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and/or Chair of the Department of English.
