About the Opportunity
As a Data Engineer at AODN you will play a crucial role in delivering data from national environmental data collection programs to stakeholders for research decisionmaking and other uses. Youll collaborate with skilled software engineers and data scientists who are passionate about technology and building impactful products for the marine science community. Your responsibilities will include developing data processing pipelines for data standardization reformatting and generating aggregated datasets. Youll communicate with internal and external stakeholders to understand enduser needs ensuring the uptake of AODN data and services. Additionally youll develop solutions to improve data science user engagement and data visualization. Youll implement and maintain data management systems and workflows for the ingestion processing and publication of highvolume scientific data.
Whats Required
Ideally you will also have exposure to one or more of the following technologies: databases (such as PostgreSQL or Elasticsearch) cloud infrastructure (such as AWS or Azure) or data formats (such as NetCDF Zarr or Parquet) and experience or knowledge of the scientific data lifecycle including planning phase data processing and quality control and data delivery.
Qualifications and Licence
Tertiary qualifications in Marine Science Data science and/or Computer science or similar or equivalent experience in extensive geospatial data management

Salary Range
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $126637 comprising of a base salary within the range of $98473 to $108237 plus 17 superannuation.
