Job Description

Electrical Engineer Operations and Maintenance

Location: Baytown TX (Onsite)
Up to $140000

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer specializing in operations and maintenance to support our industrial facilities in Baytown TX. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability safety and efficiency of electrical systems within a refinery and chemical plant environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles industry regulations and handson maintenance experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with IEEE NEMA ASME CE and other industry regulations.
  • Evaluate and apply hazardous area classifications ATEX requirements and IP ratings to electrical systems.
  • Oversee precommissioning and commissioning activities for electrical equipment.
  • Plan and manage periodic and emergency shutdowns while supervising manpower and material resources.
  • Review and interpret oneline diagrams schematics data sheets electrical layouts and cable schedules to ensure accuracy in system design.
  • Assess and approve technical documents from vendors and subvendors to align with project requirements.
  • Select and size electrical equipment including generators motors VFDs transformers HT and LT switchgears relays breakers and cable trays.
  • Perform handson maintenance of transformers circuit breakers MCC panels batteries motors and generators to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct power system modeling and analysis including relay coordination shortcircuit analysis and arc flash studies.
  • Develop and implement equipment strategies for electrical systems assigning criticality based on industry best practices.
  • Execute preventive corrective predictive and conditionbased maintenance programs.
  • Carry out function testing on battery systems transformers motors relays switchgears grounding and earthing.
  • Analyze field inspection data diagnose electrical issues and provide technical recommendations.
  • Participate in project engineering erection and commissioning processes to support system enhancements.
  • Lead factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing for new installations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in electrical or electronics and electrical engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in electrical engineering maintenance and reliability within refineries or chemical plants.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and ability to work independently or within a crossfunctional team.
  • Proficiency in electrical software tools for system analysis troubleshooting and modeling.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
