Job Description

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location ranging from:$152000 $190000

Job Summary:


Responsible for all aspects of customer Billing and Revenue Recovery for four UIL Companies including (but not limited to) accurate billing to all rate types including residential commercial community distributed generation and net energy billing. Includes oversight of revenue recovery team and expertise of collections best practices to reduce overdue debt and uncollectibles as well as ownership of programs for vulnerable customers to increase the number of customers benefiting from these programs and reduce customer energy burden.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage billing and revenue recovery/collections teams for UIL companies.

  • Manage billing processes and vendors to ensure timely and accurate bill issuance/revenue generation for approximately 775000 UIL customers generating approximately 9M bills annually.

  • Direct the Billing teams responsible for backoffice team and resolution of billing exceptions to ensure timely and accurate bill issuance and avoid potential penalties for failure to achieve regulatory targets.

  • Actively participate in regulatory proceedings on program design to mitigate utility risk.

  • Implement strategies to minimize accounts receivables) and uncollectible expenses compliantly with state regulations.

  • Direct the Revenue Recovery teams responsible for backoffice credit and lowincome teams (high balance collections payment arrangements Bankruptcy DSS payment processing and government assistance program maintenance).

  • Improve strategies for outreach and partnership with external customer advocacy groups to increase customer participation in programs and reduction of energy burden.

  • Improve quality of analysis of data to ensure accuracy and identify opportunities for targeted efforts to improve collections.

  • Collaborate with Customer Contact Centers Field Operations Customer Escalations and Digital Teams within Customer Service and with other business partners including Information Technology Regulatory Legal and Electric/Gas Operations.

  • Works closely with internal legal and regulatory groups joint utility working groups and state commissions to ensure compliance with all regulations and other regulatory mandates.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Business Finance Economics or Information Technology with 10 years relevant experience in utility credit & collections finances and/or billing operations (or significant and advanced experience in these fields for over 15 years) required.

  • Experience with utility business processes in the areas of: Billing and Invoicing; Dunning Device Management; Front Office and/or Customer Information Analytics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree preferred.
