Job Description

Leidos Maritime System Solutions (MSS) is seeking to hire an Engineering Technician to join our project team in San Diego CA. The selected candidate will contribute to a worldclass team responsible for the development manufacture and test of electromechanical devices for undersea systems and undersea mission applications. Work may involve prototypes small quantity proof of concept and lowrate initial production systems. You will be joining a growing fastpaced research development testing and evaluation team at Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific.

This juniorlevel position requires the candidate to hold a Secret Clearance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineering and recommend alternative solutions to problems and technical challenges
  • Collect maintain organize compile and manipulate technical data
  • Setup and conduct tests and records data to assist with engineering analysis.
  • Perform incoming material receiving inspection for circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and wire harnesses
  • Assemble and rework printed circuit boards with finepitch SMT (Surface Mount Technology) components under a microscope.
  • Provide field service support on an asneeded basis including support atsea.

Basic Qualifications

  • Capable of reading and understanding mechanical and electrical drawings specifications work orders and test procedures.
  • Capable of writing work orders and test procedures.
  • Experience in soldering (assembly and rework) with SMT (Surface Mount Technology) components on printed circuit boards utilizing a microscope (as required). This includes all types of finepitch integrated circuits and passive components to 0402 size.
  • Expertise with the use and operation of standard electronic test equipment; oscilloscopes meters frequency generators etc.
  • Ability to take initiative in troubleshooting of issues; creative in determining approach or action to take in nonroutine situations.
  • Competent in use of Microsoft Office tools (Word Excel PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project.
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 24 years of related experience
  • US Citizenship
  • Currently holds a Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with autonomous or uncrewed systems
  • Direct experience with undersea sensors and systems
  • Soldering Certification
  • Marine / shipboard experience
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to work on a small boat (i.e. not susceptible to motion sickness)
  • Certification as a forklift operator
  • Ability to support afterhours and on weekends as needed

Pay Range:

Pay Range $46800.00 $84600.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job education experience knowledge skills and abilities as well as internal equity alignment with market data applicable bargaining agreement (if any) or other law.
