The General Counsel team is at the heart of the AXA business. As a Solicitor reporting to our Chief Counsel for AXA Health youll support the Health business through the provision of customer focussed and commercial legal services advice and assistance. Youll ensure Group planning and decisionmaking processes are appropriately informed and that legal financial and reputational risks are managed.
At AXA we work smart empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them their team and our customers. Youll work at least 40 of your week away from home moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at London office visiting clients or attending industry events.
What youll be doing:
- Provide legal services and advice (including drafting/approving documentation) to business management.
- Liaising with external providers to ensure legal considerations and risks are appropriately managed.
- Identify analyse and resolve proposals by business management likely to give rise to contraventions of the law safeguarding the legal financial and reputational standing of the Group.
- Direct and indirect responsibility for external legal spend up to agreed limits.
- Provide seminars reports and training within the remit of the Legal Department to ensure that the relevant staff are provided with understanding and competence to perform their roles.
- Monitor analyse and report on current and potential developments in the law and the Groups products and documentation anticipating legal implications for the Group.
- Brief educate coach and advise business colleagues to ensure that risks are managed and that effective systems and processes continue to be developed.
- Monitor and implement Group risk policies.
What youll bring:
- Solicitor or Barrister with c.15 years PQE.
- Commercial law/ contracts experience and preferably some industry knowledge but not essential
- Ability to present complex legal information clearly accurately and in a way that can be understood by the relevant audience.
- Technical expertise and flexibility combined with a sound commercial sense and the ability to make pragmatic decisions.
- Influencing skills.
- Strong planning and organising skills.
- Professional and objective approach to work.
- Good team player within own and larger team.
