Job Description
Job title: CNC Programmer/Machinist
Reports to: CNC Supervisor
Supervisory responsibilities: None.
Summary/objective:Steel Craft Technologies (SCT) is seeking a CNC Programmer/Machinist to join their team in Grand Rapids MI! The CNC Programmer/Machinist produces machined parts by programming setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine
Essential functions:
- Interpret Cad drawings and solid models
- Generate documentation for set up sheets programs inspection reports and offline work sheets.
- Generate and post tool paths with CAM software
- Download programs and MDI (Manual Data Input) as needed.
- Setup and machine to the proper programs and tolerances required.
- Recheck setups change cutters and inserts and make adjustments as needed to achieve the best possible results.
- Maintain appropriate tools and keep current on calibration.
- Keep work area clean.
- Follow all safety rules and report unsafe work conditions to management.
- Regular attendance at work during scheduled work hours.
- Employees may be requested to perform other job functions as required.
- Operate overhead cranes
Required competency education and experience:
- Experience with 3 axis mills
- A well rounded knowledge of cutters and inserts and feeds/speeds.
- Candidate must have high school or equivalent education.
- Candidate must have valid drivers license
- Two years of machining experience
- Two years programming experience using a Cam software
Preferred education and experience:
- Experience with multi axis mills and probing
- Five years of machining experience
- Five years programming experience using Fusion 360 or similar Cam software
Work environment: Manufacturing environment
Physical demands:
- Candidate must have full use of all limbs.
- Candidate must be able to read and speak English.
- Candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Position type and expected hours of work: Full time. Monday through Friday 6:00 am 3:30 pm. 45 to 50 hours per week.
Travel: None.
