What is the Role

Our incoming High School Vice Principal (VP) of General Instruction is a dedicated instructional leader who is passionate about developing educators improving student outcomes and championing best teaching practices in grades 912. You are relational datadriven and committed to continuous learning modeling these values for teachers and staff alike. As a key driver of instructional quality you support teachers in achieving exceptional academic results while fostering a culture of high expectations and joy for scholars and staff.
The VP of General Instruction will be hired by and report to the Principal.
What Youll Be Asked To Do
Curriculum Assessment and Student Achievement
- Oversee and support the academic curriculum across core subject areas ensuring alignment with state standards Coney Island Preps rigorous academic expectations and researchbased best practices.
- Collaborate with instructional teams to document and communicate scope and sequence for assigned grade levels monitoring progress and identifying areas for improvement.
- Analyze schoolwide and gradelevel data regularly to design targeted student interventions and instructional strategies that drive student achievement.
- Develop and monitor highimpact support plans for struggling students ensuring all learners receive the support necessary to excel.
- Champion effective instructional data practices and ensure that teachers utilize data to inform and enhance instruction.
- Lead the interim assessment process ensuring that assessments drive meaningful instructional decisions and student growth.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence and accountability holding students and staff to high expectations.
Coaching and Professional Development
- Provide direct coaching to teachers to improve instructional effectiveness using Coney Island Preps Teacher Observation Rubric.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide specific actionable and constructive feedback that translates into improved teaching practices.
- Guide teachers through effective lesson and unit planning emphasizing backward design and studentcentered learning.
- Model outstanding instructional practices and classroom management strategies to support teacher development.
- Lead planning and internalization meetings to ensure teachers are fully prepared for lesson implementation.
- Oversee formal teacher evaluations and goalsetting processes ensuring educators receive the support they need to grow and succeed.
- Design and implement highquality professional development opportunities that align with student achievement goals and teacher needs.
School Leadership and Culture
- Design and run highquality professional development sessions that are based on student achievement and observation data
- Reinforce the schools mission and vision inspiring staff to maintain a relentless focus on student success.
- Lead by example modeling urgency excellence and optimism in all aspects of leadership.
- Reflect on personal leadership practices and adjust strategies based on feedback and outcomes.
- Collaborate with Deans of Students to support efforts in character development and school culture including partnering with families to enhance student success.
- Foster strong relationships with families and the community to create a holistic support system for scholars.
- Promote equity and inclusion by ensuring all students regardless of background have access to highquality instruction resources and support.

- Bachelors degree; NYS teaching certification required Masters degree preferred
- Background in high school content required
- At least two years of school leadership experience preferred
- Proven track record of leading all students to high academic achievement
- Commitment to using data to drive your instructional coaching and teacher development
Who are we
Coney Island Prep High School is a college preparatory public charter high school located in the Gravesend neighborhood of Brooklyn and is the first charter school located in Community School District 21. Founded in 2013 CIPHS enrolls approximately 350 students in grades 912 with 75 students in the senior class. Since its first graduating class in 2017 every CIPHS senior graduates with college acceptances in hand. Scholars dive into a rigorous curriculum rich with AP courses College and Career Readiness classes all in a supportive smallschool environment with extracurricular opportunities from sports to enrichment clubs and leadership opportunities. All CIPHS seniors are eligible for tuition assistance and financial support starting at a baseline amount of $3000 annually through the PRIDE Promise Scholarship.

Benefits and Compensation
- Employees at Coney Island Prep are provided with salaries that are highly competitive set through a lens of equity and based on an individuals skills and experiences relevant to the role. The salary range for this role is from $105000$110000.
