Job Summary
The applicant will be a member of a RDN team conducting a federally funded malnutrition grant titled Malnutrition Health Equity Among CommunityDwelling Older Adults. This position entails performing malnutrition screenings and comprehensive assessments to include the NutritionFocused Physical Exam NFPE with older adults participating in Utah County community senior centers. In addition the RDN would direct the intervention study phase by providing medical nutrition therapy for the older adults with malnutrition along with the complimentary data collection. The applicant will be required to interface with senior center directors and staff in developing the daytoday grant activities at each of the research center sites. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelors in dietetics nutrition or nutritionrelated field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified. Successful completion of an approved Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics program and registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration or registration eligible. This job offers flexible hours local travel to community senior centers with mileage reimbursement and 40 remote work available. The applicant should have knowledge in the area of aging and community health to support the grant objectives and the required activities as directed by the grant supervisors and Principal Investigator. The applicant should demonstrate leadership skills in the area of project planning and coordination so to ensure effective monitoring and relationships with key grant personnel. Grant management training will be provided. This project is approved by the University of Utah Institutional Review Board which requires all research records to be confidential and securely housed.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions: 1. Manages and oversees research operations in each community senior center. 2. Orchestrates planning and scheduling of study activities with center directors and staff. 3. Completes and documents malnutrition screening and assessment. 4. Completes and documents nutrition diagnosis. 5. Identifies and implements appropriate nutrition therapy that takes into account the participants needs expectations and culture. 6. Monitors and evaluates study participants nutrition outcomes related to nutrition diagnosis goals and interventions. 7. Conducts cooking classes for older adults. 8. Uses resources effectively and efficiently in practice. 9. Participates in continuous monthly research training. 10. Collaborates with other research dietitians and staff as needed. Knowledge of federal requirements set forth under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services CMS Conditions of Participation (CoP) and/or Conditions of Coverage (CoC) in order to receive Medicare/Medicaid payment.
Minimum Qualifications
Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Current License to practice as a Certified Dietitian in the State of Utah. Preferred Two years of clinical/practical experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Nutrition Focused Physical Exam NFPE Training. This position is patientsensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
