Summary:
The Quality Control Field Technician is responsible for inspecting and evaluating field installations and service work to ensure compliance with company standards industry regulations and customer expectations. This role involves conducting thorough quality checks on completed work orders identifying discrepancies and providing feedback to field teams to improve service delivery. The Quality Control Field Technician works closely with field technicians dispatch and management to maintain high levels of service quality and efficiency. This position requires strong attention to detail technical knowledge of installation processes and the ability to document and report findings accurately. The ideal candidate is proactive communicates effectively and ensures that all field operations meet established quality benchmarks.
This individual should be able to communicate and work effectively with external service representatives and internal team members who possess a wide variety of backgrounds personalities and communication skills. This individual should be able to work effectively in a dynamic fastpaced and evolving environment while maintaining a productive professional demeanor. This individual must be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively with other Race team members across teams and levels of our organization.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Eligibility for US Employment without sponsorship
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent is required
- A valid drivers license subject to successful verification through a DMV check is mandatory
- Prior experience in quality control inspection or auditing of fieldwork is preferred
- Strong understanding of installation processes equipment and materials particularly in fiber optics cabling or telecommunications infrastructure
- Ability to read and interpret work orders technical diagrams and blueprints
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders bending and lifting equipment
- Familiarity with industry standards safety regulations and compliance requirements for fieldwork installations and equipment handling required
- Experience using field service software and tools for documenting work quality control inspections and reporting
- Proficiency with smartphones tablets and other handheld devices for onsite data entry and communication preferred
- Certifications in areas such as fiber optics (FOA) telecommunications (BICSI) or safety (OSHA) are advantageous but not required
- Understanding of Fiber Optic Networks Basic Telecom and Video required
- Fundamental knowledge of Apple IPAD preferred
- Indepth understanding of GO95 and GO128 Standards required
- 24 years experience in fiber optic home installations or related field required
- Comfortable with traveling to job sites for inspections required
- Willingness to work overtime nights and weekends as needed
- The ability to effectively communicate in English including speaking reading writing and comprehension as necessary for effective job performance and workplace communication
- Proficiency in Spanish Language desirable

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Control Inspections:
- Conduct thorough inspections of telecom installations equipment and infrastructure to ensure compliance with industry standards safety regulations and company guidelines
- Performs underground constructions quality assurance
- Completes installation quality control checks on business and enterprise customers
- Performs drop/redrop fiber optic line to client premises
Compliance Assurance:
- Ensures that all telecom installations and services comply with relevant regulations specifications and customer requirements
Troubleshooting:
- Collaborates with field technicians and other teams to troubleshoot and resolve qualityrelated issues promptly
- Performs repairs and completes works during the QC process
Testing and Analysis:
- Performs various tests measurements and analyses to assess the performance and functionality of telecom systems and components
Defect Identification:
- Identifies and document any quality control infractions deficiencies or deviations from established standards during inspections
Reporting:
- Prepares comprehensive and accurate reports on quality control findings including detailed descriptions of identified issues and recommended corrective actions
Documentation Management:
- Maintains organized and uptodate records of inspections test results and quality control reports
- Prepares and submits daily quality control reports
- Reads and reviews work orders to ensure processes are followed
- Writes and maintains reporting
- Maintains and writes SOPs relevant to job roll
- Utilizes CRM for support tickets and trouble ticket resolution
Training and Coaching:
- Provides training and coaching to field technicians and other relevant personnel on quality control procedures best practices and adherence to standards
Continuous Improvement:
- Contributes to process improvement initiatives suggesting enhancements to enhance overall service quality and efficiency
Customer Interaction:
- Interact with customers addressing any qualityrelated inquiries and ensuring their satisfaction with the telecom services provided
Equipment Operations and Site Maintenance:
- Operates mechanized equipment such as a bucket truck excavators and trencher
- Climbs poles up to 40 feet and operates in bucket trucks with 32 plus ladders
- Manages deployment and removal of traffic control devices to ensure safety in work areas on streets or roadways
- Adheres to and operates within the weight capacity limits specified by manufacturers for equipment and machinery:
- Bucket Truck: 350pound manufacturers maximum load capacity
- Ladders: 300pound manufacturers maximum load capacity
Vehicle Maintenance and Travel:
- Maintains vehicle/equipment preop/postop to be prepared to perform required duties
- Maintains a clean driving record as defined by the current fleet insurance underwriter
- Spends a significant portion of the workday traveling in a vehicle visiting various locations and spending time both indoors and outdoors including businesses and/or residents depending on the nature of the job
- May be required to work overtime after hours on weekends for emergencies or be oncall as needed to ensure work is completed
Safety Awareness and Compliance:
- Observes hazards and reports any concerns or accidents to a supervisor or safety professional; participates in the investigation process as needed
- Understands completes and signs off all prejob safety planning tools at the start and end of the shift; completes all required safetyrelated paperwork
- Understands and responds appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (e.g. backup alarms smell of smoke fumes odors different colored warning tags warning sirens)
- Upholds a secure work environment by adhering to regulations procedures and company policies ensuring safety standards are consistently maintained
Equipment Calibration:
- Operates and ensure that testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained for accurate and reliable quality control assessments
Collaboration:
- Collaborates with crossfunctional teams including engineering operations and customer support to facilitate effective communication and resolution of qualityrelated issues
- Provides coaching and training for employees regarding failed quality control infractions
- Obtains information about locations and assigned tasks through dispatch software and/or communication with personnel
- Assists field operations with trouble tickets drops or installations when needed
Industry Awareness:
- Stays updated on industry trends technologies and best practices related to telecom quality control to enhance knowledge and expertise
Other duties as necessary may include but are not limited to:
- Successfully complete assigned training and examinations as well as participate in ongoing performance and development reviews and goal setting
