Summary The Field Machinist will be required to travel across the United States to repair various equipment and machinery in the power generation industry. This role involves precision onsite welding to ensure the highest standards of repair and maintenance.
About The Role
You will play a very important role in providing service to our customers. The Field Machinist should have a strong solid understanding and the ability to perform daily repairs including the following required duties and qualifications:
Roles & Responsibilities
Comprehensive knowledge of three major machine groups: Lathes Milling Machines and Drills through a formal apprenticeship program or extensive experience.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
Possesses knowledge of shop mathematics use of charts and tables dimensions and use of bolts screws threads and taps.
Must own and be able to use tools such as Calipers micrometers measuring scales and have your own hand tools.
Must be familiar with precision measuring instruments and have the ability to machine parts to close tolerances.
Must be able to set up operate and function competently as a machinist on at least two of the following machine tool types:
Lathes Engine and verticaland conventional
Milling Machines Horizontal boring mills and vertical milling machines conventional and Portable milling equipment
Hand Blending High Strength Steel Exotic Materials
Honing (hand)
Shift schedule will include rotating shifts overtime and oncall as necessary.
Conducts and reviews safety analyses of potential hazards
Properly maintains tools and equipment used to perform assigned maintenance assignments.
Maintains required training certifications and qualifications to enable personnel to safely perform workrelated tasks in a quality matter
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
A minimum of 3 years machining experience
Experience in the use of proper precision measuring equipment
Good mechanical background
Reliable punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position
Ability to travel to domestic and international locations for work and/or training for extended periods.
Flexibility to work overtime and rotating shifts as required
Able to work independently in a fastpaced team environment
Ability to move and manipulate up to 50 pounds climb vertical ladders and work at heights above 300 feet
Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments and adverse and extreme weather conditions in the dust pollen weeds grasses and in confined spaces
Have a valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record
Work Schedule:
The job entails active work from February to May and then from September through beginning of December with mandatory overtime. During the peak season you must be available for 12hour shifts including holidays weekends short notice and planned and unplanned emergencies such as site outages
Physical Setting:
Exposure to heat cold noise dust and humidity. Ability to climb turbine towers daily (up to 300 feet) as required. Work may involve lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment including but not limited to eye safety glasses; hearing protectors; steeltoe boots; and hard hats. Loosefitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
